In February 2024, we received a report of a puppy that was lying lifeless just outside of a housing estate. Our team headed out to see if there was anything that we could do to help. When they arrived they found a small puppy that was in a dire condition. Mange had destroyed his skin and his continuous scratching had left him with wounds that were infected and bleeding. Mange is a skin disease caused by microscopic mites that burrow into skin. It leaves dogs with a constant itch they just can’t seem to scratch and if left untreated, is very painful.
When Mongkorn arrived at the clinic, not a single section of his body was healthy tissue. At just 4 months old, he has been suffering for most of his life. Our vet team got to work shaving his fur and providing him with soothing treatment and pain mediation. Understandably, he was scared of his new environment. With new noises and a lot of movement going on, he didn’t understand that he was safe. Thankfully, just 6 weeks later, he was in best condition of his life.
