Rescue Paws is a dynamic and expanding local, Thai organization based in Hua Hin Thailand, whose mission is to reduce the stray animal population in the region through sterilization, education, and adoption. Having started in 2013, Rescue Paws is entering a new phase in its development and is looking for a dynamic leader to be our Executive Director. This individual will help to lead Rescue Paws to new heights in terms of achieving its mission and being an advocate for stray animals. The position is based in Hua Hin overseeing an operation that includes a small kennel, clinic, six full time staff, including two vets, and about 50 volunteers each year.

Role and Responsibilities

Managing volunteers from overseas and locally who come to Rescue Paws for a period of anywhere from several weeks to several months

Managing the full time and part-time staff, including vets, vet-assistants, coordinators, and other individuals

Developing and maintaining strong stakeholder and community engagement within Hua Hin and the region, as well as internationally with donors and supporters, and adoption facilitators

Overseeing the everyday operations on the ground

Providing strategic planning for the organization, including helping develop medium and long term plans related to organizational growth, fundraising, marketing, and other areas

Overseeing, growing and managing local and international adoptions

Managing the organization’s budget

Overseeing the organization’s marketing

Minimum Requirements

First and most importantly is to have a passion for animals. This is an absolute “must” for anyone working at Rescue Paws

At least five years of professional work experience

Significant experience working for a non-profit organization/clinic/pet hospital in the animal rescue or animal management field is preferred but not a ‘must’. What is a ‘must’ is that the individual has at least some experience either as an employee or a volunteer working part- or full-time for an animal-related non-profit organisation

At least 3 years’ experience in the business world in people management, marketing or communications fields is preferred

Fluent English speaking capabilities (but does not necessarily need to be an expatriate)

Some Thai language capabilities preferred but not required

Ability to relocate to Hua Hin Thailand

The individual must be an excellent communicator, great at multitasking, have strong computer skills as well as people skills, be as comfortable at a desk all day as they are being in the field all day—when necessary—working closely with animals

Individual must have the ability to drive a car/truck and motorbike in Thailand

Must be vaccinated for Rabies

Rescue Paws does not provide ‘expat’ remuneration, in order to maximize the amount of funds that go to the animals. The Director will be paid a competitive wage for Thailand and the region, consistent with Thai NGO management positions. The position comes with free accommodation, medical, visa support and paid vacation.
